So my parents just bought some land with a nicely- stocked pond on it. any given Saturday people will just be out on our land [we dont have a house on it yet] fishing in OUR pond like its the community park! Haha, but anyways I went out with my uncles to fish on saturday and caught 3 crappy- and even kissed it! There is also bass and whatnot in the pond. anyways, we dont have rods and used our uncle's and so we really dont know what to buy. all I know is I want a rod to catch some more crappy and that I want to buy a complete kit that I don't have to assemble. so if you know of any good rod kits that would work for my situation please let me know what and where to buy! Thanks so much! [ALSO- spin casting or spinning what is the difference and which is simpler to do? ]
i use my zebco 202 I got it at walmart and Ive used it for a year and nothings went wrong with it…
Go with spin cast, here is a good combo that should be simple for you to maintain and cast

All of the above knots will help you in some way and wont come un-done, you will need some line to place on the reel and this is worth the price since its in the sale too

Like others have mentioned, Spin Cast would be your best way and Walmart will have the better prices. Link below will answer some more questions ya' might have ~ it goes into some more pointers for the begineer.

You don't need a heavy duty rod and reel to catch crappie. you can get either a light spinning rig or a spin cast. The spin caster is a small simpler to manage but the spinning reel isn't that much harder. you can buy either in a combo set at Wal-mart. look at the Zebco spin caster–it will run you about $15.
first you dont want a kit because alot of times it is a waste. if you are new to the sport i would go with a spincast it is simpler to use. you want to use a light action rod. a zebco 22 combo or you a zebco 33 combo. to catch those crappies you can use jigs or live baits. you can use minnows with a cork and a # 1 hook and jigs 1/16 oz lead heads and grubs colors chartuse , white, chartuse glitter, junebug/chartuse ,black/chartuse.
Spincasting is the best bet for beginners. Nowadays, there are some good ones out there such as the Zebco 33.
Spinning reels are for more experienced anglers.
you sound like your hook on fishing i started my sons out with Zebco 33 its good all around lure u will have very few troubles with back lash its also simple to cast
The best kind of rod and reel you can get is by Shakespeare. make sure the kind of rod you get is an hideous stick they can with stand a lot of weight(in case you catch something else). when you're fish in for crappie I'd recommend those small squids with a super sharp hook so the fish will be caught even if the fish takes a bite on it. all of this can be bought at Dick's sporting goods for a reasonable price.
